Computer Sciences Academy
Kristen McKinley joined the Academies in 2017. She is the mathematics teacher for the Future Educators Academy and the Informatics/Computer Science Academy. In the Academies, Kristen teaches Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. In college, Kristen danced for the National Champion University of Louisville Ladybirds Dance Team. Kristen holds a bachelors and a master’s degree in Secondary Math Education. Kristen started her teaching career in Indiana in 2001 teaching at New Albany High School. She taught there for ten years. While a teacher at New Albany, she coached the Bulldolls Dance Team. That team earned the titles “State Champions” and “National Champions” under her direction. In 2009 she want the award “Outstanding Supervising Teacher in Secondary Education” from Indiana University Southeast. Mrs. McKinley was named “Teacher of the Year” for New Albany High School in 2010. She also sponsored the Math Team, Student Council, and was treasurer of the PTO. In 2011 Ms. McKinley and her family moved to New Mexico. During the six years there, she was a certified group fitness instructor, a cheer/dance coach, and the PTA President. In 2016, Kristen’s husband transferred to Cincinnati. Kristen enjoys cooking, crafting and spending time with her family (she has a daughter at Twenhofel Middle School and a son who attends Piner Elementary).
