Dixie Heights provides a rigorous education that prepares our students to enter the workplace of tomorrow. Our freshmen class consists of students from over 25 different middle schools working towards the common goal of becoming the best that they can be. Only limited by imagination, our students have access to a multitude of academic and extracurricular programs and resources.
Here are some parents who wanted to share their Dixie Experience.
“We have a son that is currently a junior at Dixie and a daughter that is a sophomore, both transferred to the Kenton County school system from a local private school in 2008. We had a high standard and we were looking for strong academics and a school that could accommodate the sports activities that they both enjoyed. After touring the school and meeting Mr. Dusing, we just fell in love with the staff and atmosphere at Dixie Heights and felt very comfortable making the move from private to public. The transition couldn't have been smoother.
The teachers have actually been easy to communicate with and give the same support we were used to even with so many more students, we are really impressed. This school has been a real blessing to our family. Your school has helped to support and strengthen them as individuals and we strongly recommend Dixie Heights," it is running", as my husband, who sells machinery in the plastics industry puts it," like a well oiled machine!" Thanks for doing such a great job!”

“Though homeschooling our children from K-8th grade had been a positive experience for our family, we were ready for a change in high school. Dixie offered college prep classes, clubs and sports that were a welcomed continuation to their previous learning experiences. My kids have adjusted well at Dixie….making good friends, getting to know teachers and getting involved in various school activities that have helped to prepare them for college. As I tell everyone, “You can get a great education at Dixie, if you want to.” It is up to the individual student to choose, but the opportunities abound. Just this year, my daughter was nominated for the Governor’s Scholar Program. We have been thrilled with the welcoming attitude of everyone at Dixie. This caring attitude trickles down to the other faculty and staff, and even the students. We were thrilled to have Dixie as an option that has furthered our educational plans for each of our children.”
“WE HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH OUR SON’S ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE WHILE AT DHHS. HE CAME FROM A SMALL PRIVATE SCHOOL AND WAS WELCOMED INTO THE DHHS FAMILY. DHHS HAS CHALLENGED HIM TO EXCEL TO BE HIS BEST WITH OFFERING HIM ACCELERATED, AP AND NKU COURSES. MY SON ALSO ENJOYS PLAYING SPORTS AND WAS ABLE TO PLAY MANY SPORTS IN HIS 4 YEARS AT DHHS. DHHS HAS ALLOWED HIM TO GROW INTO THE FINE YOUNG MAN THAT WE KNOW HE COULD BE. DHHS HAS TAUGHT HIM MANY THINGS AND HAS EXPOSED HIM TO NEW EXPERIENCES. DHHS IS A FINE ACADEMIC SCHOOL. “

“When Gary and I made the choice to send our son to a public high school, it did make us a bit nervous. The experience we had at a private school was wonderful and we had nothing to compare it to. I had to wonder "what is he going to miss out on if he goes to Dixie Heights as opposed to a private high school?" After some research we opted for Dixie. After the first few weeks of his freshman year my fears and misconceptions were alleviated. I can honestly say that I don't feel he has missed out or been deprived of any aspect of his high school experience. We have watched him grow into an intelligent young man who is well prepared for the next phase of his life. He has had very good teachers and counselors who have advised him, guided him and prepared him well for college. The teachers have responded quickly to our questions and concerns and made sure we were part of his learning experience. Our son has made friends, has taken part in school activities and has really enjoyed his time at Dixie. Dixie also makes it easy for parents to be involved as well, with opportunities ranging from seminars for parents to various clubs. We are looking forward to the experiences and opportunities that our youngest son will have at Dixie.”

“We relocated from Indiana in January of 2009 from Indiana with my husband’s job. Both of my children came from a very small town school. My daughter was a freshman in high school and my son was in the 7th grade. Of course they did not want to move away from their friends and at the time thought it was the end of the world! They did not know anyone, and were both very upset for the first 6 months. By the time the next year rolled around they were both involved in extracurricular activities and were making new friends. They both have made the comment that they like Dixie because kids are accepted for who they are and are treated fairly. The staff is respectful of the students and gives them a reasonable amount of freedom. They have never felt like they were not accepted. They like the diversity and the many opportunities academically and extracurricular which were not available through such a small school system. If you ask both of them today, they would say they are glad that we chose Dixie and would not want to be anywhere else. “
