The Kenton County School District took home several awards from the Northern Kentucky Education Council's annual Excellence in Education awards banquet.
- Amanda Dempsey, a teacher at the Kenton County Academies of Innovation and Technology, received a Golden Apple Award, which recognizes teachers for their content knowledge and ability to engage students in rigorous and relevant learning opportunities.
- Susan Back, a guidance counselor at Simon Kenton High School, earned a Student Service Award, which recognizes educators who are responsible for school counseling innovations and who demonstrate leadership, advocacy and collaboration to promote equity and access to opportunities for all students.
- Emily Girard from Simon Kenton High School and Su'Mya Herndon-Jones from the Kenton County Academies of Innovation and Technology, received Academic All-Star awards
- Brianna Hammond from the Kenton County Academies of Innovation and Technology received an Against All Odds award
In addition, the Kenton County Board of Education was recognized along with the Boone County Board of Education and Children's Inc. with the Spirit of the Region Award for their partnership on the IGNITE Institute.
