I am fortunate enough to be the English Language Teacher at Ft. Wright Elementary school! I work with children in grades K-5 who speak other languages besides English at home. Together we work on reading, writing, listening and speaking in English. We have over 30 different language spoken in the Kenton County School District, including Spanish, Arabic, French and more!
On the KCSD Enrollment form, there are four questions called the Home Language Survey. If you indicate any other language than English on this survey, your student is automatically enrolled in the English Language program. I will meet with you every school year to review your student's Program Service Plan. This plan contains the instructional methods and accommodations your student will receive throughout the school year.
Students who are enrolled in the English Language program will take the ACCESS test every January. This test measures your student's English Language proficiency in the domains of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Once your student achieves a score of 4.5 or greater on the ACCESS test, they are dismissed from the EL program.
