Back to School Tip: My Bus Buddie Parent Portal

With school back now back in session, it is a good idea to use My Bus Buddie for the first few days to track your child's school bus!

No cost breakfast, lunch available at five KCSD schools this school year

The Kenton County School District is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision, which will allow the district to offer no cost breakfast and lunch at five schools this this school year.

Free breakfast and lunch will be available to students at Beechgrove, Caywood, Fort Wright, River Ridge and Taylor Mill elementaries.

Drivers reminded to use caution with school back in session School bus safety

As students return to school, Kentucky drivers are being reminded of the laws that apply to keep students safe.

Updated Code of Expected Behavior and Conduct

At the August 6 board meeting, the Board of Education approved the Kenton County School District Code of Expected Behavior and Conduct for the 2018-2019 school year.

Shared Responsibility Plan to be presented

Kentucky education leaders will host a joint press release at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Woodford County High School, 180 Frankfort St, Versailles, KY 40383 to present alternatives to a public pension reform plan that has been presented by the office of Gov. Matt Bevin.

The Shared Responsibility Plan is designed to address challenges and financial shortcomings of the current state employee pension fund while also ensuring the longterm stability of the many areas of public service that provide the foundation for life in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Those include the areas of public education, law enforcement and emergency response, and all aspects of city and county government, such as roads and infrastructure, municipal utilities and judicial processes.

Safe Schools Week is this week Stop the Bullying

October is Bullying Prevention Month and the Kentucky Center for School Safety is proud to announce this year's Kentucky Safe Schools Week is set for October 15-21, 2017. Together we can "Get Involved and Get it Solved, STOP the Bullying!" KCSS stands on the belief that everybody should enjoy school equally and be treated with respect. Community members, educators, students and parents are encouraged to get involved during Kentucky Safe Schools Week.

Important message regarding immunization changes

On July 27, 2018, a Bright Arrow message was sent to all students in the district from our Health Services Department as a reminder of the new immunization requirements for the 2018-2019 school year. 

Hope Street Group Teacher Survey

Hope Street Group, as an independent nonprofit, is facilitating the collection of data from teachers in Kentucky to help inform a number of decisions the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) will make over the next six to 12 months. In the Kenton County School District, our students’ safety and security are one of our utmost priorities. Last year, we made you aware of a controversial Netflix series about suicide called 13 Reasons Why. Netflix will release the second season of the series on May 18, 2018. This series may raise different emotions, concerns, and questions for our students.

Kenton County celebrates state test scores

The 2017 Kentucky State Report Card has been released, and once again, the Kenton County School District is classified as Distinguished!  

The Kentucky Department of Education did not label schools based on the 2017 data as the state accountability model is transitioning to a new accountability model.  However, to honor the work and maintain continuity in the interim, the district utilized the same formula to assign designations to the schools and district.

The Kenton County School District is pleased to announce two new principals in our district beginning in the 2018-19 school year. Kim Mott will be the principal at Caywood Elementary, and Michelle Cobb will be the principal at Ryland Heights Elementary.

KAGC Scholarship Available

KAGC will provide a non-renewable $500 annual scholarship to one Kentucky public high school senior who intends to study communications/journalism at any postsecondary institution.


Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has approved Kentucky’s Consolidated State Plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The plan outlines how the state will implement federal title programs, hold schools accountable, ensure equity and promote success for every Kentucky student.
