Mark Gaskins was born and raised in Independence, Kentucky. Mark is a product of Kenton County Schools, having attended Kenton Elementary, Twenhofel Middle School, and graduating from Simon Kenton High School in 1999.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kentucky in 2004 in Health Education with a minor in Family and Consumer Science. Mark completed his graduate work at Northern Kentucky University earning a Masters Degree in Special Education in 2007, as well as his Rank I in Gifted and Talented Education in 2009. Mark began his teaching career at Simon Kenton High School as an instructional assistant in 2004. After half a year teaching at Simon Kenton, he was offered a health teaching position at Summit View Middle School where he taught health education for two and a half years. He then began is current teaching job in the structured teaching unit at Scott High in 2007. Mark has also been the varsity assistant basketball coach working under head coach Brad Carr for the last seven years.
