The mission of the Dixie Heights High School Youth Service Center is to enhance students’ abilities to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote: early learning and successful transition into school, academic achievement and well-being, and graduation and transition into adult life.
Students and their families can contact the YSC for assistance with school supplies, clothing, food, hygiene items and referrals to counseling and health services.
Since returning from the holiday break, the Youth Service Center has helped:
· 2 students with a family/home situation
· 4 students with clothing
· 3 students by providing information and referrals to pregnancy out-reach centers
· 4 students who needed various hygiene items
· 3 students with school supplies
· 5 students with in-school counseling by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (provided for thru the YSC)
· 3 students by giving them snack food when they were hungry
· 3 students received a food bag thru the Food For Thought program, which provides students with a bag of food on Friday to feed them over the weekend
· 1 student with an application for KCHIP
· 7 students with miscellaneous needs
· 1 parent by arranging to pay for eye exam and glasses for 2 of her children
