READY FOR WHAT?
College, career, life - that's what.
Chances are you have heard someone, somewhere talking about college and career readiness. What does it all mean and how do we make certain our students are on track to get there?
Thanks, in part to extraordinary technological advances the world has changed dramatically - we must prepare students to live and work in a global economy, adapt to changing workplace expectations and be ready for jobs that haven't even been created.
Kenton County Schools - that's what.
In Kenton County we strive each day to offer resources, tools and support for students making their way to work and life in the 21st century. As part of that goal we believe that students must begin thinking about college and career readiness before they may fully understand what it means.
Kentucky Scholars - that's what.
The Kentucky Scholars Initiative is dedicated to engaging community leaders in motivating students to take the toughest courses they can throughout high school so that they will be better prepared for college and work. KYSI also utilizes business volunteers to help our emerging workforce understand the role that SOFT and 21st CENTURY skills play in becoming productive citizens.
Because we believe students need to hear messages about preparing for college and life early on, we will be piloting a version of the Kentucky Scholars Initiative in our 4th grade classes. Simple conversations and interactions establish a strong foundation and offer powerful tools in helping young students get ready for the world ahead.
We Need You - that's what.
Education champions come in many forms - influential employer, education leader, high school student, college athlete, retired professional, parent, grandparent. We'll provide the training, the materials and the tools. You lead the classroom based conversation - with a PowerPoint slide presentation and exercise to support our messages.
