KCSD celebrates 8 Distinguished schools

The Kenton County School District is pleased to announce that eight of its schools have been ranked Distinguished, according to data released in the 2015-16 Kentucky School Report Card.

Congratulations to Dixie Heights Assistant Principal Tom Spritzky for being inducted into the Northern Kentucky Athletic Directors Hall of Fame.

KCSD parents invited to vote for minority parent to serve on Superintendent Search Committee

The Kenton County School District is inviting all district parents to vote for a minority parent to serve on the superintendent search committee.

Ballots will be available Wednesday, April 26, Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the District Board Office, 1055 Eaton Dr. in Fort Wright.


Registration is now open for PGA, August 9-12

Registration is now open for the Kenton County School District's Professional Growth Academy (PGA), which will be held August 9-12, 2016.

Summer Sports Camps offered at KCSD high schools

Simon Kenton, Scott and Dixie Heights high schools are all offering various sports camps over the summer.

KCAIT alumna named Purdue Devito Scholar

Congratulations to Kayla Marzian, a graduate of Dixie Heights High School and an alumna of the Kenton County Academies of Innovation and Technology, who was recently named a Devito Scholar at Purdue University. Kayla credits KCAIT for helping her achieve this honor.

KDE encourages all students to apply to the 2016-17 Commissioner's Student Council

The Commissioner's Student Council is a year-long program for Kentucky public school students in grades 10-12. The council will play a vital role in providing input regarding issues that face education in Kentucky and work with KDE staff to develop ideas that will work to improve and transform education.

Author Gene Yang to visit Dixie Heights

Author and graphic novelist Gene Yang will visit Dixie Heights High School on Friday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.

The Kenton County Aquatics Center at Scott High School is offering Open Swim on the following dates and times:

Arts for Life night is Tuesday, May 3! Come enjoy the beautiful artwork of some of our youngest and finest artists.

Stuff the Bus is July 26

Chick-fil-A Houston Road is sponsoring the annual Stuff the Bus Competition on Tuesday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone donating three or more school supplies will receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich!

Ryland FRYSC receives Kynect Partner of the Year Award

Susan Martin, Coordinator for the Ryland Heights Elementary Family Resource Center, received the Kynect Partner of the Year Award from the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission for her work with the Kynect Program and Ryland Families.

Congratulations to Fort Wright Elementary Principal Tina Wartman, who received the 2016 Ann S. Booth Mathematics Education Service and Achievement Award (M.E.S.A. Award) on Friday, November 4.

KCSD grads win essay contest Sarah Setters and Reed Spata

Congratulations to Simon Kenton grad Sarah Setters and Scott grad Reed Spata for earning national recognition after receiving first and second place in the National French Week Essay Contest, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.

Both students currently attend the University of the Cumberlands.

Support your school by attending the Florence Freedom game on Wednesday, May 24! Tickets are just $10, and $4 from every ticket sold will come back to your school! In addition, the Kenton County School District Family Resource Youth Service Centers will recieve a portion of the profits.

Back to School Health Requirements

It’s time for parents to start thinking about health requirements for back to school! Meeting health requirements for school attendance is an important part of making sure your child is ready for school.  These requirements provide the assurance that your child is not only up-to-date on necessary immunizations, but also that he/she is healthy to attend school.  Keep your child “on track” by making sure that he/she meets the health requirements every school year.

Carla Oetinger from Ryland Heights Elementary is one of 24 Kentucky educators named as a recipient of the 2018 Valvoline Teacher Achievement Awards (TAA). She will qualify to compete for the 2018 Kentucky Teacher of the Year Award, which will be announced in May.

Team 8660C of the Women's Engineering Academy received the Judges Award at this past week's State VEX robotics Competition. 


The Kenton County School District has again been named a 2017 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award winner for continued leadership in protecting our environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. KCSD’s accomplishments will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. on April 26, 2017.

UpSpring Summer Employment Opportunities

After a wildly successful first year, the Kenton County School District is continuing our work with UpSpring to provide a summer camp for our students who are homeless.   The camp is a healthy mix of academics and new experiences for students.  This will not only be a great summer job but an awesome opportunity for our staff members to continue making a difference this summer.
