A message from our Superintendent on 13 Reasons Why

In the Kenton County School District, our students’ safety and security are one of our utmost priorities. Last year, we made you aware of a controversial Netflix series about suicide called 13 Reasons Why. Netflix will release the second season of the series on May 18, 2018. This series may raise different emotions, concerns, and questions for our students.

Kenton County School Board Approves Full-Day Kindergarten

At a special board meeting on Monday, May 14, the Kenton County School District Board of Education approved full-day kindergarten beginning in the 2018-19 school year.

Students selected for Gatton/Craft Academies

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to attend either the Gatton Academy or Craft Academy.  The Gatton Academy is a two year, residential STEM program for gifted and talented juniors and seniors.

Maddie Schowalter won an Honorable Mention for her Painting at State AND won BEST OF SHOW 3-D FOR HER SCULPTURE!!!

KCSD mechanics celebrate four years without lost time injury

Congratulations to our KCSD mechanics, who have gone four years without a lost time injury. This is a huge accomplishment and great news for our district.

KENTUCKY’S PLAN TO IMPLEMENT THE EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT IS APPROVED

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has approved Kentucky’s Consolidated State Plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The plan outlines how the state will implement federal title programs, hold schools accountable, ensure equity and promote success for every Kentucky student.

KAGC Scholarship Available

KAGC will provide a non-renewable $500 annual scholarship to one Kentucky public high school senior who intends to study communications/journalism at any postsecondary institution.

Congratulations to our NKYEC Award Winners

Congratulations to Melissa Insko from KCAIT and Tiffany Collier from White's Tower, who have been name 2018 Golden Apple Winners by the Northern Kentucky Education Council!

In addition, KCSD also had several student winners, including Collin Richardson (Against All Odds), Emma Wahlbrink (Academic All-Star) and Jacob Vallandingham (Career and Technical Education All-Star).

Scott athlete named NKY Male Athlete of the Year Nelson Perrin

Congratulations to Scott High School Football player Nelson Perrin, who was named Mr. NKY Male Athlete of the Year at the Cincinnati.com Greater Cincinnati Sports Awards.

KCSD musicians participate in Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra Riki Nagai and Emily Dickman

Congratualations to Riki Nagai, a senior flutist from Dixie Heights, and Emily Dickman, a senior percussionist from Scott, for their participation in the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Preschool Summer Enrollment Days

Congratulations to Keegan Hennessey from Scott High School for winning the 2018 Earth Day "Capture the Earth" video contest sponsored by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet.

Important message regarding immunization changes

A recent amendment to the Kentucky Administrative Regulation on the immunization schedules for attending school added new immunization requirements for the school year beginning on of after July 1, 2018.
